Warner Cup/Poppy Appeal Medal Sunday 13th September 2015
John Symon rolled back the years to win the Warner Cup/Poppy Appeal Medal at Rookery Park on Sunday. John who will turn 75 in February, nearly recorded the same score as his age in returning a gross 75 (nett 67) to win the trophy by two shots. The win goes someway to make up for the disappointment at losing in the final of the Suffolk Golf Union Seniors Parks trophy recently. Second place went to Graham Garrod, his nett 69 was one clear of Hambro star Jack Blowers (nett 70). Graham has now fully recovered from foot surgery that has kept him out of action for the past five months. Fourth place went to the in-form Michael Sharp, his nett 70 wasn’t quite to secure third place losing out to Jack on a count back. The fifth and final prize went to Club Vice-Captain Martin Scott with a nett 71. The 80 players who took part also raised £200 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
