Paul Taylor & Chris Reynolds Memorial Trophy Thursday 14th April 2016
Rookery Park hosts first memorial trophy
On Thursday 14th April 25 members of Rookery Park Golf Club held a team event in the memory of two golfers, Paul Taylor and Chris Reynolds who passed away tragically a week apart in April 2015. Both were talented golfers, who had represented the Club during their time. Paul was struck down with a brain tumour and Chris was awaiting a heart transplant at the age of 21.
Friends of both men competed for a memorial trophy with 25 players attending. The matches were played using the traditional Thursday League foursomes format, with the team representing Chris coming out on top by 3 ½ points to 2 ½ . Following the golf the players enjoyed a superb fish & chip supper followed by the presentation of the trophy which was attended by Chris’ grandparents and his cousins Sarah and Daniel (who took part). The match also raised nearly £170 for charity, which will be split between brain tumour research and Papworth Hospital.
